Shiatsu massage

Shiatsu & Pregnancy Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a relaxing and effective form of bodywork using pressure points and gentle stretches to bring harmony to body and mind. Meaning “finger pressure” in Japanese, Shiatsu combines the benefits of Acupuncture without the needles and Yoga without the effort. Pressure points and meridians are treated with the thumbs and hands, while stretches and movements encourage the receiver to let go of tension. Shiatsu aims to restore your physical, energetic and emotional balance and maintain health.
‍
Shiatsu is practiced fully clothed lying on a comfortable floor mat, giving support as well as space for movement.

Shiatsu is safe and beneficial during pregnancy and you can have treatments at any stage. It is also a nurturing and restorative post-natal treatment.

1 hour £60

Chi Nei Tsang

Chi Nei Tsang or Hara Shiatsu is abdominal massage which connects deeply but gently with your centre. It is given on the skin of the abdomen while you relax fully clothed on a comfortable floor mat. It is beneficial for releasing the physical and emotional stress responses held in the internal organs, stimulating the lymphatic, digestive, vascular, nervous and fascia-tendon-muscular systems. Chi Nei Tsang is taught to you as you experience it, empowering you to treat yourself. Simple Taoist meditation can also be introduced in the session to help you skilfully respond to your emotions.

Chi Nei Tsang 1.5 hours £95 (please allow 1.5 hours for your first session)
Chi Nei Tsang 1 hour £65

NB: CNT is not suitable if you have a pacemaker, or deep vein thrombosis (DVT). For women, please avoid CNT if you are pregnant, have an IUD/coil, and during menstruation due to the deep abdominal focus of the massage.

Meridian Massage

Meridian Massage is a full-body oil massage combining the flowing strokes and focussed techniques of traditional massage with the meridian and pressure point connections of Shiatsu. Effective and nurturing, Meridian Massage releases physical tension and reduces aches and pains while calming the mind. The benefits of working on the meridians and pressure points makes this a versatile therapeutic treatment as well as a deeply relaxing experience.

The treatment is given on a massage couch, with the receiver covered with towels. I use organic essential oil blends from Neal’s Yard Remedies and their nourishing base oil.

Lomi Lomi Hawaiian Massage

Aloha! In Lomi Lomi you enter a safe and energised sacred space where you can connect with your higher self to let go of burdens, create change, or simply to receive the massage.

In Lomi Lomi long flowing strokes are given with the hands and forearms, washing the body in waves of compassionate intention. Nourishing organic coconut oil is massaged into the skin with strokes that travel smoothly along the full length of the body, giving a feeling of wholeness and integration.

Lomi Lomi massage benefits the muscles, myofascia, circulation and lymph, joints, and parasympathetic nervous system. Through the constant flow of movement the mind can enter deep meditation, relaxing into the experience.

A sarong and loincloth will be provided to wear during the massage so all clothes can be removed. The couch is heated and the room is kept warm, with soft music and gentle lighting.

McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release®

Scars are often ignored or dismissed as 'just there', but McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release® offers a treatment based on years of research and measurable results. The technique gives gentle, focussed attention to scars, whether recent or decades old, to release tension and integrate them into the surrounding tissue.

MSTR® is a gentle yet effective way to reduce tightness and discomfort. It works on the collagen fibres to improve the circulation of blood and lymph for healthy tissue function. Not all scars need treatment, but if you have scars that are painful or numb, have restricted movement in the area, or if you just don’t like to touch or look at your scars, then give me a call for a free consultation.

Having a chance to look, feel, and talk about a scar can also ease painful memories or negative feelings that sometimes accompany our body's visible stories. MSTR® is a way to reconnect with your body no matter what it’s been through.

MSTR® 1 hour £60

MSTR® can be helpful for scars from:

  • Accidents
  • Operations
  • Burns
  • Caesarian births
  • Cosmetic surgery
  • Injection, vaccine, and epidural sites, and tiny scars
  • Acne
  • Underlying adhesions from soft tissue injuries
